Adult Basic Education - [A.B.E.]

Goodwill's Career Center educational programs are designed to meet the needs and interests of a wide variety of students. Grade level testing is administered before orientation and is followed by two weeks of basic career training. Here students learn about the customer service culture, employer expectations, potential career paths and personal effectiveness.

Following this basic course, students will enter training which can lead to specific skills training, Career Center Students receive another four weeks of training where they can improve skills in English, communication, spelling and math. Use of basic office machines, introduction to computers, and the Internet are also a part of this course.

Next, students choose one of three educational tracks depending on their interests and career goals: Hospitality Skills Training [H.O.S.T.], Business Employment Skills Training [B.E.S.T.], or Medical Office Skills Training [M.O.S.T.]. Each separate track has an additional five to ten week intensive educational component and an on-the-job internship.

During training students are assisted in resume’ writing and interviewing skills.

Successful graduates are assisted in job search and job placement education and support.
