donationsWhere Can I Make a Donation?

Individual donations of gently used household items, toys, books, clothing, and furniture may be made at any of our nine Goodwill retail stores, (see map for locations). You may call 304.523.7461 to determine the one nearest you. Goodwill also accepts donations of used vehicles and boats, which are sold by sealed bid to the highest bidder. Beginning on January 1, 2005, IRS allowed taxpayers to deduct only the proceeds charities get from the sale of vehicles. Within thirty days of the sale, donors will receive a written acknowledgement from Goodwill that includes the sale price of the vehicle.

donorsImportant Notice:

Due to insurance or legal restrictions we cannot accept large appliances, console televisions or stereos, mattresses, box springs or upholstered furniture that is stained or torn, waterbeds and infant products that do not meet the current safety standards of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Businesses may also arrange a regular donation program of overstocks or returned merchandise or schedule large-scale periodic donations of retail fixtures, office furniture and equipment. If your business is interested in such a program, please email donations@goodwillhunting.org, or call 304.523.7461.

In 2010, Goodwill Industries' employees processed over 4.3 million pounds of donated goods and placed them for sale in our stores. The resulting $3.8 million in revenue helped fund our counseling, education, training and employment service programs that benefit people with disabilities and other disadvantaging conditions that have kept them from being successful in the workplace.

Donations to Goodwill may be tax-deductible (consult IRS Tax Guide 526 for deduction guidelines) as Goodwill Industries is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization. Recent changes to IRS regulations states that all donations must be in good used condition or better in order to be tax deductible. Donors set the fair market value of their own donations.
